About Flip Laffoon

With over twenty years of experience guiding teenagers through the college admissions process, I provide comprehensive support throughout the entire college planning journey. My approach combines rigorous academic preparation with personalized guidance to help students discover their unique path forward. One of the things I love about working with teenagers is that everyone is different and brings a unique perspective. I discover new things about educational opportunities through my students, which brings me such joy and keeps me constantly engaged, excited, and humble in this ever-changing admissions landscape. I offer expert guidance in college selection, application strategy, essay development, and test planning. My dual background in admissions counseling and test preparation gives me a comprehensive understanding of what colleges seek in successful applicants. My goal is to reduce anxiety in the college process while helping students present their authentic selves. I track industry changes, research programs, visit schools, and attend professional conferences to ensure my students receive the most current and relevant guidance. As an Associate member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), a member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), and member of the Western Association for College Admissions Counseling (WACAC), I adhere to the highest ethical standards in college counseling. My favorite word is "serendipity." I love that it's serenity with a dip in it because it reveals that there is discovery in serenity, which reflects how I approach the college journey with my students.
