About Floyd Blaikie

I’m mostly here by accident. I started my career in broadcast, co-hosting and then anchoring a morning FM radio show for five years, plus several years of whatever on-air work I could cobble together before that. When radio put me out to pasture at the ripe old age of 26, I did some self-accounting. Surprisingly, I did not start a podcast, although I’ve appeared on several since then. I wanted to try a different angle on storytelling. That’s how I got into marketing. As it turns out, I’m pretty good at it. Now I get to say things like, “I bring to the table a track record of delivering growth, innovation, and creativity for B2B and B2B2C brands.” Or, “I have led diverse and cross-functional teams through complex marketing challenges.” Or, “I’ve helped large organizations find their truest brand identity and prime areas of positioning opportunity in their markets.” All true—but in real human language, I like to pull ideas apart, understand them, and then build them again, but better. I believe anything can be interesting if you know how to talk about it. I think you can make anything happen if you can tell the right story to the right person at the right time. I guess that’s how I got my first job in marketing, and my second, and my third, and so on. I hope I get to keep doing it for a very long time. When I’m doing things on purpose, I like to play D&D, lift heavy things, make textile art, and spend time with my two daughters.
