I have designed my competencies around two ideas: preserving the past and the ability to translate it to others. I call this memory work. The Library and its fellows (archives and museums) are unique among repositories in that they are designed to be useful. The usability of a memory institution as a component of its design is critical; ensuring the best and broadest possible access to knowledge is an objective relevant to the intrinsic responsibility of memory institutions. To preserve and champion cultural memory is my aim. I am excited to be a part of this memory work, and I am interested in exciting imagination, lifelong learning, and a radical sense of welcome.
