About Frances McKenzie

Leadership and career coach. I love working with people to help them understand themselves better – their likes and dislikes, what they’re good at and not so good at – getting clear and comfortable with their strengths and preferred ways of working. This gives a great starting point for getting into specifics. Specifics like… developing a strategy, building a team, dealing with difficult situations, relationship building, adapting communication and influencing styles, exploring career options, mentoring in consultancy skills and organisational development. I focus on helping people understand what they really want. And then accompany them towards that ambition or as they navigate change and challenges. This approach works with individuals and with groups. Group coaching on topics such as leadership and customer-focused culture change facilitates learning in the moment and over time, building connections that foster shared learning and mutual support to put learning into action. Since 2011 I have worked in both the private and public sector – higher education, human rights, the arts, a mental health charity and financial services to name a few. I have a background in customer service operational management, with 27 years in financial services, and over 20 years in senior roles with responsibility for leadership development and organisational change. As a result my work with people is based on real-world experience and insight. Theories, models, tools can provide context, structure, insight… how to use them in the real world is what’s most useful.
