About Francesca Caprino

I'm a researcher at INDIRE - National Institute for Documentation, Innovation and Educational Research (Innovation Department). My general research areas are special educational needs and inclusive education. My research interests include assistive technologies, educational robotics, play and disability, Universal Design for Learning, accessibility, and educational use of WHO’s ICF (International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health). I have been involved in scientific research projects since 2007 in public universities and research institutions and I have authored more than twenty scientific papers. I took part in several national and international projects including two projects financed within the VI Framework Program: EU4ALL - European Unified Approach for Accessible Life Long Learning and IROMEC - Interactive RObotic social MEdiators as Companions. I have contributed to the development of Crealibro a free software which allows users to create accessible illustrated digital books. My professional experience includes teaching and tutoring in university classes and a twelve-year experience as an assistive technology consultant and as a trainer in qualified courses addressed to teachers and rehabilitation professionals. I'm currently involved in the scientific network LUDI (play for children with disabilities).
