About Francesca Pasotti

Post Doctoral research fellow and lecturer at Ghent University with a demonstrated history in marine research focusing in extreme ecosystems (deep-sea and Antarctica) and tropics. Large field experience on both land stations and research vessels. Currently working on deep-sea benthic biodiversity of the ferromanganese nodules fields at the Clarion-Clipperton Zone as part of the Environmental Baseline work by GSR (DEME group) for the exploration phase of newly developing deep-sea mining industry in the Area. I have deep knowledge in Antarctic systems, Deep sea, Marine Biology, Ecology, Coastal Management, Biodiversity, Capacity Building, Conservation, Development, Environmental Awareness and Climate Change, Psychology, Leadership and Intercultural Dynamics. I have experience in International Academic Development (academic capacity building) in Cambodia since 2018 collaborating on site with various stakeholders, from local public Universities, to local NGOs and the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations. I am a professional scientific diver (Advanced Belgian Scientific Diver) with experience during four expeditions to the Antarctic Peninsula, the North Sea and Cambodia. Strong communicator, with a high emotional intelligence and people skills. Adaptable, flexibile and resilient, I can perform under stressful conditions.
