About Francesco Sottile

My career experience and skills have grown from my curiosity for discovering the branch of science dedicated to understanding natural phenomena: the Natural Science. I am an enthusiastic scientist with a strong background in biomedical sciences and with a track record of applying creative problem solving and analytical thinking to tackle challenging projects. I began my career as a research scientist in London where I explored the effectiveness of different chemotherapeutics drugs against neuroblastoma paediatric tumour. Here, not only I gained vast knowledge about cancer research, but I also actively added new valuable scientific knowledge to the field. Motivated by my first steps into the scientific world, I moved to Barcelona where, later, I got my PhD in biomedicine. During the last years, I collaborated in numerous projects within different teams in an international environment, resulting in the publication of several articles in esteemed scientific journals. In parallel, I developed effective and confident oral communication skills by participating in numerous international scientific conferences and organizing several teaching activities. I consider the ability to make complex scientific content accessible to audiences of various backgrounds, both stimulating and essential to glue together the different scientific participants. Linked to this, I started to strengthen my knowledge about the general business management function pursuing an MBA program with the aim to acquire a bigger picture of the link between the scientific academic research and industry. I am a very positive person with strong interpersonal skills, always ready to take initiative and responsibility. I enjoy keeping my mind open to discover new innovative trends and original ideas with the ambition to understand and mimic natural phenomena, to create new, effective and sustainable technologies for the society.
