About Francis Fox

People have always interested me. Specifically the care of vulnerable adults and the encouragement of children to find an interest and reach their goals. My previous nursing career gave me a great sense of giving back, helping individuals within the public and private sector that were suffering from mental health issues. My own personal struggle watching my dad succumb to dementia and having to see my mum do her very best for him lead me to ask myself what is my legacy? A question that my dad would ask, ‘what mark are you leaving when you’re gone?’. I answered that question by leaving it all behind. I needed a radical change to find out what was important to me. I moved overseas, worked a minimum wage job at a football school. It was great, I wanted to help kids but the money wasn’t going to sustain me. Maybe I could set something up myself? The English Football School was born in July 2012. But I wanted more. I wanted to think bigger and had the idea to create an app that would appeal primarily to kids but that anyone could use. The idea was to get them out and about, making physical activity fun as well as educational. Fast forward to early 2019, the development of EyeSpies underway and the launch ready for early next year. It’s been exciting and exhausting but it all comes back to what my dad said and I hope I can truly leave something behind of value that he and my mum would be proud of.
