About Frank Alvarez

When you live long enough, you realize that life is really all about accompaniment, walking each other home. During my employment law career, I was fortunate to find my way into a niche area that spoke to me – integrated disability and absence management. Over many years, I saw that how we respond to and support important employee life events matters deeply. I also learned that giving legal advice and operationalizing it are two very different skills. That slowly became my professional passion – operationalizing the law - and applying technology to scale legal knowledge, experience and judgment. I now work with an amazing team to try to elegantly embed leave and accommodation laws into software that modernizes and transforms leave experiences and delivery systems. As the legal and operational complexities of leave and accommodation expand exponentially, and employee access to HR benefits increasingly become a self-service function, technology is the future of leave. Simply stated, software must and will do for employers what law firms and HR professionals alone cannot. I happily spend my days thinking about ways to help our team build software that betters integrates disparate leave transactions and benefits, streamlines and improves employee and employer leave experiences, and allows leave stakeholders to better collaborate and communicate despite complexities inherent in this space. My professional work can be daunting but it is enjoyable and life-giving, and I am grateful to be part of a team building software that makes life a little easier for everyone to travel, and allows us to show up for each other when it matters most.
