About Frank Engels

In 1992 I have been graduate at the Technical university Eindhoven with a degree in Technical Physics. Because of the lack of Software Engineers, I started my career as a Software engineer. I still have a strong preference to a work environment that contains the combination of hard- and software, in a multidisciplinary environment, where I can still use my background in physics. Sector where I prefer to work in are: automotive, energy (saving, alternative) and Medical (physiological interfaces, for example sensor development). For me it is important that my work will have a lot of variation and provocation. My talents will be deployed at its best in tasks that need creativity and innovation. Projects I have worked on: • Developing Driving simulator with Unreal Engine and Carla • Real-time processing of combustion processes in a Diesel engine, with the help of an FPGA • Toolchain development for the generation of C-code out of Simulink models for Google Android and other microcontrollers. • Alleviation of traffic jams, with the help of car to car communication and car to infrastructure communication. • Increase the traffic flow in urban and intercity environment, with car to infrastructure communication • Waste heat recovery on Heavy duty vehicles: Responsible for the communication between the different microcontrollers. • Translation of European emission legislation to a practical and readable documents for engineers • Development of OBD control • Implementation of RADAR object recognition model in an existing vehicle • Reengineering of a diesel public transport bus to a LNG gas engine: Responsible for the communication between the LNG engine and the vehicle. With my Academic background and the variety of the technical physics education I can be deployed in various areas. I will be most satisfied in a working environment where I can use my studious and creative skills to solve technical problems. My ambition is to become a system architect, where the knowledge of all the available technical disciplines is needed.
