I earned my NASDS Scuba Diver certification in the Spring 1970.I recertified as a PADI Scuba Diver in 1972 and started assisting in the instruction of PADI divers. I continued to gain experience and earned my PADI Advanced Diver and PADI Senior Advanced Diver in 1973. In June of 1974 I earned my PADI Dive Master rating, which was a high as I could go because at the time you had to be 21 years old. I achieved my PADI Instructor rating in June of 1979. I worked as an instructor and as a Public Safety Diver gaining critical experience on how to instructor scuba. Instruction is more than the transferring of information. It includes imparting skills, habits, experience and attitudes. In 1989 I turned my diving experience into PADI specialities, meaning that I have made at least 20 dives for each speciality rating before I became a speciality instructor: Deep Diver Instructor, Equipment Specialist Instructor, U/W Photographer Instructor, Ice Diver Instructor, Night Diver Instructor, Search & Recovery Instructor, Wreck Diving Instructor, U/W Snapshot Instructor, and Quarry Diver Instructor. Thereby earning the rank of Master Scuba Diver Trainer. Over the years I have added a number of other PADI specialties: Vehicle Recovery for PSD Instructor,Evidence Recovery Instructor,Body Recovery Instructor,Self-Reliant Diver Instructor, U/W Videographer Instructor, Public Safety Diver Instructor, Full Face Mask Diving Instructor, Project Aware Instructor, Enriched Air Instructor, Peak Performance-Buoyancy Inst, Boat Diving Instructor, Drift Diving Instructor,Dry Suit Diving Instructor,Multilevel diving Instructor, U/W Naturalist Instructor, and U/W Navigator Instructor. In March of 1994 I earned my Master Instructor rating. Then In January 2015 I earned my IDC Staff Instructor rating so that I may instruct divers who wish to earn their PADI Assistant Instructor Rsating
