Skills: Decoding Genomes for Personalized & Precision Medicine. Expert in Exome Capture technology, Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), Big Data & Bioinformatics and Clinical Interpretation all for the purpose of unravelling that genetic diagnosis for the patient. Specialist in Genomics,(epi)Genetics & DNA to the Base. Since Frank learned at high school that the secrets of life are concealed within our DNA, he has been decoding both our genome and epigenome. He started his career with a Ph.D. in Genetics and publications in the top scientific journals such as Nature, Genes & Development and EMBO. Receiving a NWO Veni grant, he continued at the Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam, to study the fundamentals in controlling gene activity correlated to disease using advanced reverse genetics and whole genome profiling. Next he joined the Next Generation Sequencing revolution at ErasmusMC to unkey the DNA code for medical purposes using Mass Parallel Sequencing (NGS) and Big-data skills. Implemented Non invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) for the Dutch Trident studies. Recently, he joined the department of Clinical Genetics at the academical center Erasmus to deploy all this knowledge to obtain that genetic diagnosis a patient is looking for. Science dominates his entire life. He volunteered in the organization of the Rotterdam Science Café to communicate science with a broad audience and in educational and research programmes concerning primate protection for the Jane Goodall Institute. Last but not least, he shares his addiction for science via video of which one won Sigma's "Where Bio Begins"​ contest and his video "DNA, the Tomtom of our journey of life"​ got commissioned by NWO.
