I work at California State University, Northridge where I teach courses on a variety of subjects including introductory Physical Geography, water policy, and Cultural Geography. Upper division courses I have taught include Crime Geography, Business & Economic Geography, Health Geography, Urban Geography, Field Techniques, and Quantitative/Qualitative Methods. I have published in peer-reviewed journals and books on subjects ranging from hip-hop music and televised representations of gentrification to the payday lending industry and its effect on crime and the U.S. military. My research has appeared in the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, NPR and other national media outlets. There is a partial list of publications below.
