About Franklin Pera

I am currently a student at The Ohio State University working towards my B.S. in Construction Systems Management. During summers and other breaks, I return to my hometown, Memphis, TN, where I work in the restaurant industry as a catering manager. I have been working for Catering For U for 6 years and for the past 4 years I have held a management role. In this position I am responsible for setting up catering events as well as managing and training the personnel working the events. This position helped me learn how to be a strong leader and the importance of learning the unique ways each employee is motivated. Since catering does not provide consistent day-to-day work, I have also worked in various roles for the restaurants that Catering For U is affiliated with. I started working as a host, welcoming and seating customers as they came into the restaurant. I then worked as a bar back during rush hours on weekends, cleaning glasses and restocking the bar as needed. For the past two summers, I worked as an expeditor for two different restaurants where my responsibilities included ensuring the quality and timely delivery of food. This position has been the most demanding that I have held as it tested my problem solving ability and my ability to work in a team with the kitchen and wait staff during the busiest hours for the restaurant.
