About Fred Butler

1973 I worked as a pencil on paper draftsman. I returned to the plumbing industry in 1976 as residential plumber. In 1978 I returned to the Plumbers Union Local 32 I am still a member. I worked as a residential plumber in new construction, remodeling and service. In 1995 I advanced to the commercial side of the plumbing industry. I worked on large and small projects following plans and verbal directives in installation of any and all piping materials including, but not limited to, acid waste, copper, stainless steel cast iron, threaded steel pipe. I installed piping in remodels as well as new construction. I was hired Mechanical Systems Incorporated for the remodel of the Space needle. Replacing the Resturant waste piping at the underside of the restaurant level. Then reroute of the the high pressure domestic cold water from the basement mechanical room to the top house. That system is still operating as I installed it. I planned and installed the domestic cold water pump package in the basement mechanical room to feed the top house. This work was done without impacting the day to day operations of the facility. In 2002 I worked as the plumbing Detailer at the Seattle Opera house renovation. I worked on several other projects including the Valley Medical Center “Central Sterile project”. 2003, I worked for SJS Mechanical in service work and Tennent improvement projects. The work included all types of plumbing systems from sewage ejector systems, to design leadership and installation of plumbing and medical gas systems in many building configurations. In 2015 at Macdonald Miller co. Where I worked for a year detailing piping systems. When there was a slowing of that work I then went back to the field working for Mac Miller at the Lincoln Square Expansion North tower. I completed two of the Mechanical rooms and installed the reheat stations within the residential tower. I took time off in 2016 after my mother’s death to take care of her estate. Then worked for Apollo Mechanical for two years as an Cad detailer. One Project included SeaTac airport renovations. Lack of work caused my layoff. I was hired by Holmberg company in 2021 to train on Revit software detailing plumbing for high rise residential projects. I was laid off due to lack of work in December 2021. I do enjoy the challenge and plan to return to work when my wife’s health improves.
