About Fred Grainger

I am a former Operations Manager, now self-employed as a Business Improvement Consultant and Coach, with over 25 years experience in High Volume Manufacturing Sector and 10 years as a consultant to companies mainly in the service industry. My previous roles have included Industrial Engineer (specializing in Lean Manufacturing), Production Planning, Project Management, Quality Management, and Production and Operations Management. I have a great deal of experience in most aspects of management, from senior positions to front line, including production and capacity planning, front-line supervision, recruitment, union negotiations, disciplinary procedures and employee assessments. I also have an in-depth knowledge of most quality techniques & systems including ISO SPC, 6-sigma, TQM, TPM, Kan-ban, WCM, F.M.E.A.s and all aspects of Lean Manufacturing. During my 20 years in the automotive industry, I was fortunate enough to work with Toyota from the beginnings of Lean manufacturing, and received training and experience in Lean from them, and even spent some time in Japan working with Lean engineers.
