About Fred Husman

I have over 20 years of experience in automation projects for the Process Industries. I have project experience in the Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Food & Beverage and Polysilicon industries. My most detailed process knowledge is in Brewing. I spent the first half of my career as a Project Engineer gaining significant commissioning and startup experience. I spent the second half of my career in Project Management and achieved the PMP Credential in 2012. I have been the Project Manager for the two largest DCS projects ever booked by Siemens Process Automation in the USA. As a Senior Project Manager for Siemens, I employ a "cradle to grave" strategy by engaging with the customer from the project acquisition phase through the project closing phase. I help the customer with the user requirements definition for the control system of their process plant. I define the ideal control system architecture based on the Siemens Automation Product Portfolio. I create both the technical and commercial components of the Siemens proposal. I lead the customer face-to-face proposal presentation meetings. Upon order acceptance, I manage the project until the process plant is at full production. I even stay engaged with our customers during the operational phase of their plants to manage system software updates implemented during the lifecycle of the plant. My passion is project pursuits at USA customers where Siemens has the onerous challenge of displacing a long-time DCS incumbent. The long-time incumbent tends to be Emerson Process Management.
