In the early 1900's the Spanish poet Antonio Machado already described something quit similar to my own motto in one of his most famous poems from Campos de Castilla. Caminante, no hay camino, se hace camino al andar. Just google for the whole thing (in English), but the bottom-line comes down to something like this; Wanderer, there are no roads, you create your own road just by walking. Feel free to attach your own thoughts to it, but this poem already seems to be an early adoption of management 3.0 to me. Like +1 (or “vind ik leuk”). People management is my passion, I like to accompany a team, or any individual within, on their specific road to stardom. I like to motivate and facilitate. To be a coach, rather than a manager. I have no issue with pupils outgrowing their mentor, this actually is how it should be. Otherwise mankind would never have been able to make any real progress. So don't be a sheep (cfr. Jef Staes), cause if we all follow each other down the same road many of us will never reach their full potential. For the moment I am the proud manager of a motivated and skilled group of Microsoft professionals at Inetum (fka. Realdolmen). Currently there are nearly 150 of them in this competence center alone. Together with all our other Microsoft colleagues at Inetum we were recognized as Microsoft country partner of the year several times now and we rank within the top 10 of most valued Microsoft partners world-wide.
