About Fred Leach

I began my career in the equipment industry in 1989 as an electrical tool technician for Zuni Rental in Albuquerque, NM. I worked my up through the industry focusing on learning every aspect of the management and operations of an equipment business. I spent time in dispatch, shop and field service, service management, parts management, parts and service sales. After parts and service sales I took on my first whole good sales position with what was Sierra Machinery, now Golden Equipment. I moved into sales at US Rentals and began to focus on the rental business. I have worked in consumable sales, multi-branch management, boom truck manufacturing management and for a short break from the industry as a project manager for Brown and Brown Construction / Mount Carmel Sand and Gravel on the Hwy 544 project in New Mexico. I have negotiated several contracts and several terminations with various equipment manufacturers. New business development, territory development and rental fleet performance and growth are areas I excel in. I have an extensive history of AED classes, manufacturer training, NACM classes and various other industry related education. This year I participated in both sessions of the AED CFO conferences as a speaker with Garry Bartecki in Rental Department Operations: Compensation and Beyond. I was recently interviewed and an article written in Construction Equipment Distribution magazine. The article is focused on my thoughts and successes in the rental business. My personality, business focus and personal drive have allowed me to gain the experience and knowledge to be a top producer in the rental and the equipment industry.
