About Fred Padilla

I am an experienced and passionate R&D Lab Manager at Garrett - Advancing Motion, a global leader in automotive turbochargers and powertrain electrification. With a Master's degree in Automation and Control and over 20 years of experience in aerospace and automotive environments, I have developed a broad range of skills and competencies, such as data acquisition, automation and control, electronics and mechanics, lean manufacturing, six sigma, change management, risk management, and customer relationship management. For the past 3 years, I have been leading the technical and operational development of the Torrance CA Laboratory, supporting the local engineering teams to accelerate the automotive electrification and emerging technologies, such as air foil bearing, fuel cell rigs, metallurgy, and electrical and electronic labs operations. I collaborate with a global team of engineers, coordinating the team, defining processes, driving recruitment, talent development and organization development, and ensuring cross-functional and transversal operational excellence. I strive to ensure the safety, quality, and efficiency of the test and validation processes, and to deliver results on time and at the right quality level for new product introduction projects and warranty services.
