About Fred Payne
Fred Payne is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering at the University of Kentucky and formerly taught courses in food and biological process engineering. His research area includes development of optical sensors for food process control. He formed and is President of Reflectronics, in 1993 to manufacture an optical sensor and commercialize a cheese processing technology. He co-founded TranSecurity Systems, in 2008 to commercialize a milk transport security system. He is a member of the Foundation Board of Directors, on the Foundation Board of Directors and a Fellow of his professional organization, ASABE (American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers).
