About Fred Tomczyk

After more than four decades in financial services — and three CEO roles across markets, banking, and insurance — I’ve stepped back from executive leadership and now proudly serve on several boards and committees in retirement. My CEO journey has taken me from leading London Life, to guiding TD Ameritrade through the 2008 financial crisis and nearly a decade of industry-defining growth, to my final executive post at Cboe. There, I had the privilege of helping shape the company’s strategic direction, expand its global reach, and deliver record-setting results. Each chapter reinforced a core belief of mine: when financial systems are built on trust, transparency, and access, they create lasting security and opportunity for individuals and institutions alike. Throughout my career, I’ve seen that real transformation often brings discomfort — and that’s when growth happens. Strategy isn’t a one-time event—it’s a continuous process that demands discipline, adaptability, and alignment on values. I’ve always believed that a clear strategy, combined with a strong management team, guided by a shared sense of purpose and a long-term view, is what carries organizations through change and toward sustained success. The financial industry is dynamic by nature — shaped by secular trends and uncertainty, driven by people and full of opportunity. I’ve found lasting energy and inspiration in its complexity, resilience, and ability to impact people’s lives in meaningful ways. While I’ve stepped back from day-to-day leadership, I remain deeply engaged with the industry — as a board member, mentor, and lifelong student of the markets.
