About Fred Turoff

I was head coach for varsity men's gymnastics at Temple University 1976-2014. In that time, I produced a number of NCAA All-Americans, NCAA Champions, US National Team members and international competitors, including one Olympian, one who went to two World Championships and three who competed in the Pan Am Games. The varsity program was terminated June 30, 2014 but I continued coaching the competitive club team for three more years. Starting in Aug, 2017, I assist one of my former students who took over the head coach position. I'll still teach part-time in the Temple Kinesiology department. I also direct Philadelphia Boys' Gymnastics, a non-profit training program for boys with a goal of having them compete in the US Jr Olympic Program when ready. Specialties: I coach all events of men's Artistic Gymnastics, I have judged nationally and internationally, and wrote a book "Artistic Gymnastics - A Comprehensive Guide to Teaching and Performing Skills for Beginners and Advanced Beginners," that was adopted by the USA Gymnastics Boys' Junior program as its coaching manual. I'm also an avid SCUBA diver and amateur underwater photographer.
