Dr. Frederick D. Harris, M.D, noted Specialist in Internal Medicine for 35 years, has achieved the highest honors in his profession throughout his illustrious career. Dr. Harris formed Frederick D. Harris, M.D, Inc. in 1989. He spent his first 16 years establishing a successful private practice while maintaining staff privileges at 10 hospitals. In 2005, he joined the Cleveland Clinic ("CC") and is Section Head in Cleveland Heights where he sets the bar in quality care metrics. He specializes in hypertension, diabetes and his passion preventive care. He is a traditional internist, one of the few physicians that practices both in office, as well as the hospital. He is known by his peers as the "Doctors' Doctor", and his trademark is accurate, timely diagnosis and superlative care par excellence. His bedside manner is second to none. Dr. Harris is married to his wife of 34 years, Bernice. They have 7 children-all college graduates! He participates in the annual CC Minority Men's Health Fair as well as CC South Pointe's Men Health Fair. He is a mentor for CC's Physician Diversity Scholars Program. He is a life member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc, NAACP and SCLC. He is the current Health chair of OHIO NAACP. Dr. Harris was awarded the prestigious 2018 "Physician of the Year" by SCLC. He was honored with a lifetime achievement in May, 2019. He was honored by The City of Cleveland in February 2021 and by The Cleveland Clinic as unsung hero for his work during the Covid pandemic. He was awarded the prestigious Dr. William Montague Cobb award at the 2023 National NAACP Convention for his contributions to health advocacy and equity and also received the President’s Award at the Ohio NAACP convention in September 2023.
