Background
About Frederick Gleicher
For the past 16 years my research interest is in the analysis and design of different reactor cores, experiments, and reactor subsystem components. This has allowed me to utilize and develop different codes, tools, and techniques for the analysis. These tools include Monte Carlo codes like MCNP and Serpent, and the thermal hydraulic code SAS/SASSYS, and the depletion code ORIGEN. I also have experience working with, coupling, and developing different applications under the Multiphysics Object Orient Simulation Environment (MOOSE) and includes Griffin (Neutronics), Bison (Fuels Performance), and Relap-7 (Systems analysis and Thermal Hydraulics). Summary of model and tool development:* Model development and analysis with the Monte-Carlo code Serpent and Monte Carlo N-Particle Code (MCNP). These models are developed and analyzed for reaction rates, reactivity worth calculations, etc. This tool is used for comparison to MCNP and to produce cross sections for the other MOOSE tools such as the neutronics application Griffin/Rattlesnake. The Serpent models are often used as reference solutions.* Finite Element mesh development with CUBIT to discretize domains for single physics and multiphysics coupling. Separate meshes are developed for the neutronic application Rattlesnake and the fuels performance application Bison.* Rattlesnake, Bison, and RELAP-7 model development for single physics analysis and multi-physics coupling. The models must have physical proprieties, adequate discretization, etc. to insure a simulation with sufficient fidelity.* Development of models and analysis with Monte Carlo N-Particle Code (MCNP) and Serpent. These models are developed and analyzed for reaction rates and bounding analysis, and were applied for analysis of working reactors.* Verification of the system code SAS/SASSYS. Here the interest is to verify if the code can perform the listed calculations and to insure that the answers produced are the ones expected.* Development and application of ORIGEN for depletion. ORIGEN is used to obtain the amount of an isotope of interest or the gamma emission rate for further dose calculations.* Application development in C++ and FORTRAN. MOOSE and some of the associated applications have been extended to include capabilities needed to complete different projects.* Scripting in Python for CUBIT meshing, plotting, and launching applications on High Performance Computing cluster etc. Copyright awards include: Bison (2015), RACCOON (2015), Mammoth (2016), Rattlesnake (2017), RELAP-7 (2019)
