About Frederick Lee

My name is Frederick and I am a current Master's Candidate at Columbia Studying Public Policy with a focus on Cybersecurity and Data Analytics. I want to determine effective ways to address problems facing society through cybersecurity policy that both empowers individuals while protecting those most vulnerable in the digital age. During my time working in education, I saw how structural barriers kept students from succeeding, both domestically and internationally. While I knew I made an impact in my position, I wanted to effect greater change. That is why I decided to pivot into Public Affairs and specifically Cyber Security. Seeing the increasing impact technology was having on students both inside and outside the classroom made me realize its importance. In this field I will be able to start finding concrete solutions for privacy and security risks that individuals and companies experience daily. I am interested in how Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence can find these answers and be used to take actionable steps which are grounded in humanity. While I am professionally interested in cyber security, I am passionate about a range of policy interests ranging from education, foreign policy in Latin America, and security.
