Background
About Frederick Swanney
I graduated cum laude from Royal Oak High School in 2023 and was part of the marching band, jazz band, NHS, a CAD course, and film production. The marching band got division 1 in the MSBOA competition all four years of my high school experience and shaped me to be an ambitious, team playing leader. I also completed service projects through the NHS, learned the basics of CAD and created a documentary. I completed two different personal projects, both of which had the aim of helping the community. I received the student excellence award for all four years. I worked at Arby’s from May 2023 to August 2023 as a team member. My experience working at Arby's taught me how to manage workloads and how to be a team player in a fast-paced environment. I worked at Duo-Gard Industries Inc. from June 2024 to August 2024 as a jr. project engineer intern. I contributed on various structural engineering based projects, from designing an adhesive branding sticker using Adobe Illustrator to building a new glazing system and making observations. The main project I worked on was a fabrication standards binder, using Adobe Illustrator and SOLIDWORKS to create CAD drawings and index pages for variations of commonly used parts. This binder would reduce time and energy spent on projects, allowing for a quicker output time. Overall, I learned about data analysis and gained a greater understanding of structural engineering and architectural processes. My skills within engineering, Adobe Illustrator, SOLIDWORKS and graphic design also grew with the on-job experience. The Boy Scouts of America taught me many skills including leadership, survival skills, being a team player, taking ownership, safety, and open mindedness. I participated in many service projects and eagle projects during my scouting years in which we helped multiple communities in different ways. I held the positions of junior assistant scout master, patrol leader, assistant patrol leader, bugler, and librarian. I was also inducted into the Order of the Arrow. I've participated a lot at my church, in which I’ve helped the homeless, needy, and sick through different means such as bake sales, magnet making/ selling, collection drives, and other community driven benefits. I’ve also helped the church out itself, from setting up events and cleaning up afterwards to helping the priest out during services.
