Background

About Frederik Vanmeert

During my PhD and postdoc I learned how to interact across disciplines – combining state-of-the-art scientific techniques with the beauty of artworks – and I am very happy to continue this work as a research scientist at the Rijksmuseum. This position allows me to continue to form a bridge between both fields: I am able to further develop and apply novel scientific instrumentation and X-ray techniques while working alongside art conservators. I love tackling scientific problems and cherish the small victories that follow when making (mini-)discoveries. In my work I combine my eye for detail and critical mindset to scrounge through large datasets and transform them in to easy-to-read results. For this I frequently exploit my interest in programming. Research is a team effort and with the help and enthusiasm of many great international collaborators, I continue to publish in world-leading science journals. After hours, I enjoy to clear my mind while wandering around in nature or by pushing my boundaries with indoor climbing. Want to know more about my research? Follow this URL:
