I have started my career in the treasury department of a worldwide retailer. This allowed me to get acquainted with financing products (commercial paper, syndicated loans, etc.) as well as the instruments to hedge the interest exposures. Simultaneously I learned about the financial controller job since I had to follow-up the P&L realizations and also prepare the forecasted funding cost of the group. When I joined Accenture 2,5 years later I expanded my scope as I worked on commercial reorganization as well as on the implementation of a management information system at two different clients. With my experience in financial controlling and information systems I made the “natural” step towards performance management at BNP Paribas Fortis. Where I was a management controller of the Retail network and later of the Retail, Private and Commercial Banking businesses. I learned more about the banking products in this position. Since I desired to get more into the real banking métier I decided to work for the internal banker of BNP Paribas Fortis. In the Asset Liability Management department I learned more about managing the interest rate, liquidity and forex risk of the bank. I’m currently in charge of the liquidity steering of the Bank (ST, MT and LT), the transfer price (key in managing the transformation margin of the bank) as well as for the P&L follow-up of ALMT (including Treasury). The latter also includes multi-year planning.
