About Gabe Perez

Principal Engineer at Intuit leading distributed teams across three countries to scale TurboTax Mobile to millions of users across US and Canada. I believe that exceptional software emerges from the intersection of technical excellence, team empowerment, and sustainable practices. Engineering Philosophy & Impact Everything we do—from writing code to architecting solutions—serves one purpose: delivering outstanding software that makes a real difference in people's lives. I've led the successful migration of critical web applications to AWS, implemented CI/CD pipelines that reduced deployment time by 60%, and built mobile platforms that process millions of tax returns annually. But here's what really drives me: the way we achieve these results matters just as much as the outcomes themselves. Leadership Approach Drawing from the principles outlined in "Accelerate," I champion a leadership style that combines velocity with excellence. I believe in empowering teams to write better software, ship faster, and maintain higher quality by embracing data-driven practices that drive real outcomes. This approach has helped me build and mentor high-performing engineering teams that consistently deliver results while growing their technical capabilities. Global Perspective As someone who's Brazilian by birth and Canadian by choice, I bring a unique cross-cultural perspective to technical leadership. This background has proven invaluable in fostering collaboration across our global teams, enabling us to leverage diverse viewpoints and approaches in solving complex technical challenges. Whether it's scaling distributed systems, optimizing cloud infrastructure, or implementing robust mobile architectures (iOS, Android), I focus on solutions that make life easier for both teams and users. When I'm not diving into software engineering or helping teams deliver results, you'll find me spending time with my family, running (I'm a sucker for cushioned shoes), or exploring new hobbies. 🤝 Let's Connect I'm passionate about sharing insights and experiences in: • Building and scaling high-performing engineering teams • Cloud architecture and mobile platform development • Cross-cultural technical leadership • Engineering practices that drive both velocity and excellence Whether you're looking to discuss technical leadership, engineering practices, or the future of mobile/cloud development, I'd love to connect!
