About Gabe Prieto

I am a former Sales Manager on a journey to become a Software Engineer, a career that aligns with my passion to create, build and solve problems. I am beginning from the ground up, and looking to start in an early career role. I have over 8 years of consultative sales experience and product knowledge in wireless voice and IOTs. After years of demonstrating top sales and leadership performance, I was promoted to Sales Manager to lead a sales team of 10. In sales, I was focused on the customer and their needs which required expert and up-to-date product knowledge, and the ability to communicate features and benefits to close the sale. The role strengthened my muscles in problem-solving and adaptability, which proved beneficial in a fast-pace environment with constant change. My people skills also contributed to my success. I thrive when challenged. I believe that my customer service, sales, coaching and management experience will be an asset as I pivot into a new career. I have always been the go-to person for my family and friends when they want to learn about the latest tech products, and if they need help troubleshooting an error on their phone or computer. I enjoy helping others, and have a natural skill for explaining technical information to non-technical people. In late 2020, I left sales and took time off to take care of my two children. During that time, I re-focused my time and energy on learning hard skills that could be applied to a career in front end development. I went back to school, and took online courses. I also coached High School football, which I greatly enjoyed. I have a B.A. in Business Management Economics from UC Santa Cruz. I live in Southern California with my wife and two kids, where we enjoy exploring beaches and anything outdoors. When I'm not studying or playing with my kids, I lift weights, watch Marvel movies, and shop the latest tech.
