Background
About Gabor Hardy
My area of expertise is rhetorical criticism. I study signs and symbols, how they hold or create meaning and what or how are they instrumental in forming our identities. We live in a complex world with huge amounts of messages being sent. Therefore, to develop critical thinking is necessary. What to sort out and what to leave in. What is reliable information and what is not. This is what I seek to cultivate in my students. Over the years I have also developed an interest in ritual activity. Why are rituals important for or in our lives? What does it say about our spirituality? In the past I have studied the Lakota Sundance ritual. I have designed a few religious rituals of mine own. It is one way to create meaning. Rituals may be instrumental in promoting healing. There are social rituals, religious rituals, and even political rituals. I attend and comment on as many as I can. This allows me to learn how rituals are constructed and why they have relevance and significance in our lives.
