Background

About Gabriel Arevalo

My professional interests are mostly related to research in applied Fluid Mechanics. My previous and current positions have been in the R&D team of these companies. In my first position related to mining industry (Micomo S.A- a Codelco innovation company) I contributed to implement a novel geomechanical monitoring technology (BOTDR), developing the data processing algorithms and the user interface. I also worked as a technical advisor in environmental projects related to mining processes pollution. In my previous position (SAME Ltda.) I worked on industrial ventilation projects, as a technical adviser for the already running projects. As a part of the R&D team, i was in charge of a project for improving High Energy Hoods (r),(a 2.5M USD project) sponsored by Spence mine, Glencore Nikkelverk and also granted by Corfo. I have a strong formation in experimental techniques (sensors, digital signal processing), obtained from my undergraduate and PhD research theses. As a part of my experimental skills, i learned some basic electronics (from signal processing) and now it is one of my hobbies. Specialties: Fluid mechanics for mining processes and environmental control. Structural monitoring for underground mines using the BOTDR technique. Data and signal processing. Instrumentation.
