Background

About Gabriele Trani

I am a passionate aerospace engineer with 20 years of experience guiding space systems from early-phase trade studies to launch and early-orbit operations. As Technical Director, I lead Integrated Product Teams and contribute to the development of proposal strategies and mission roadmaps, delivering platforms such as the climate-monitoring CubeSat OSM-1 CICERO (2020) and the education-focused ROSEYCUBESAT-1 (2023). Earlier in my career, I led one of the AIT integration teams on ESA’s €1.4 billion Euclid observatory. My current role remains deeply technical, involving the coordination of system architectures, ICDs, and verification flows with key actors in Europe and the Gulf region. I focus on risk-based planning, ECSS-compliant quality processes, and design-for-manufacture practices to ensure mission robustness and technical reliability. In parallel, I am pursuing an Executive DBA focused on stakeholder governance and ESG integration in the New Space Economy, with specific attention to voluntary frameworks such as ESA’s Zero Debris Charter. This research reflects my growing commitment to sustainability and the need to align technical programmes with emerging environmental and institutional expectations. I also serve as Adjunct Professor at the International University of Monaco, where I teach Project Management and Mathematics for Business. Through regular STEM outreach and academic engagement, I aim to connect technical excellence with future-facing leadership, and help shape the next generation of aerospace professionals.
