About Gabrielle Betts

Over the past 15 years, Dr. Gabrielle Betts has developed and led teams with highly diverse portfolios and expansive accountabilities. She is passionate about building new teams and programs - her current role, as well as the 5 previous roles she has held, have all been start-ups. Gabrielle is skilled in setting a compelling vision, building strong teams, and consistently achieving impressive and innovative results. Currently, Gabrielle is launching and leading Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) oversight in Alberta, Canada. EPR shifts the physical and financial burden of collecting, sorting, processing, and recycling waste to the producer and away from local governments and taxpayers. Previously, Gabrielle is grateful to have led teams in the ministries of Health, Community Services, Education, and Status of Women with the Government of Alberta and the departments of Employee Services and City Operations at the City of Edmonton. In the community, Gabrielle currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Association of Alberta Sexual Assault Services as the Vice President, and has previously served on the Board of Directors for Sage Seniors Association and REACH Edmonton. Gabrielle has a PhD in Political Science from Carleton University, an MA and BA in Political Science from the University of Alberta, and a Project Management Professional designation.
