About Gabrielle Winters Bostwick

I strive to learn something new every day. My most valuable skill is integrating my diverse education and research background to think critically and solve interesting problems. My research experience includes molecular neuroscience, single-cell transcriptomics (laboratory and computational analyses), human/mammalian stem cell culture and differentiation, and marine invertebrate zoology (field collection, identification, and, classification). My doctoral research included using next-gen sequencing and analyses to identify transcripts encoding putative secretory molecules in octopus nervous system transcriptomes. I mapped approximately 100 of these transcripts to the octopus nervous systems using in-situ hybridization in order to create the first molecular map of putative peptidergic signaling in octopus learning and memory centers. In addition to the laboratory and computational research, I also completed extensive field research components. I have earned the responsibility to act as the sole representative for my laboratory on international marine biodiversity survey expeditions on several occasions. Although I am well-equipped and content to work independently, I thrive when I am part of a team. I am seeking a position where I can share my unique set of skills and continue to learn in a new cooperative environment. My four PhD manuscripts are under revision and these references will be updated upon publication.
