About Gaia Mari
I graduated in Bioinformatics and wanting to intertwine my skills and interest in this domain, I achieved a Master of Science in Medical Bioinformatics. The aim of my thesis was to investigate the presence of potential brain structural connectivity differences between Caucasians and African Americans affected by multiple sclerosis disease. During my Master, I worked for the University of Florence as Data Manager and Data Analyst for two years. The team I worked with was composed of physicians, nurses, biologists, geneticists, and researchers. The focus of our work was the Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) field. I’m currently a member of the Diffusion Imaging and Connectivity Estimation (DICE) lab, and I worked as a research assistant for a year in the tractography field. At the moment I’m a PhD student in Computer Science and my research focuses on improving the accuracy of existing so-called “profilometry” analyses of the fiber tracts reconstructed with DW-MRI tractography.
