About Gail Burfitt

I am a Health and Safety professional, and a Chartered Member of IOSH and have a wealth of Health and Safety and Compliance experience, qualifications and skills. I currently work as a Compliance Officer for a specialised Housing organisation in the South West, that supports people with learning disabilities to live independently. I am responsible for over 300 properties ensuring they meet all Health and Safety and legal responsibilities across 7 areas; Fire, Gas, Electric, Legionella, Asbestos, Specialist equipment, and damp/mould. I work closely with lovely tenants, support providers, families and landlords to ensure our tenants live in lovely homes that they feel safe and secure in. I previously worked within the Health and Social Care sector for Community Therapeutic Homes, based in Worle, who provided high quality accommodation and care for adults with intellectual/learning disabilities. I was also a Director of Clydesdale Care Training Ltd,(part-time) which supported people who employed Personal Assistants as carers, and who either received direct payments/Personal Health Budgets, or pay privately. I helped these employers to apply for funding from Skill for Care for their Personal Assistants to be trained in additional skills and qualifications including: The Care Certificate, Employer training to Support Personal Assistants (Care), First Aid at Work, Moving people Safely, Dementia awareness, End of Life Care, Infection Prevention and Control, Fire/Food Safety, plus a wide range of Health and Social Care courses and subjects
