Dr. Gail D. Mason has over 40 years of clinical experience as a board-certified small animal internist. She was also trained in and practices oncology. She co-owned Bath-Brunswick Veterinary Associates from 1989 to 2023 and founded Portland Veterinary Specialists in 2001. In May 2019, this practice, now known as Portland Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Care, was sold to surgeon Dr. Marta Agrodnia. Dr. Mason has now assumed the role of senior staff internist. Dr. Mason founded and continues to head the only radioactive iodine treatment unit for hyperthyroid cats in the state of Maine. With a graduate degree in medical pharmacology, she has been involved in many clinical drug trials. She is a Beta test site for Idexx, Inc.(the global leader in veterinary diagnostics). In her "free time," she has served as an expert witness for potential veterinary medical malpractice cases over the last 30 years.
