About Gail Matchullis

Gail is a Director with Calliou Group specializing in impact assessment, qualitative research, community engagement, cumulative effects assessment, and rights and reconciliation advocacy. Gail holds a Master degree in Natural Resources Management from the University of Manitoba and a B.Sc. in Environmental Studies and Geology from Binghamton University, New York. She brings her project management expertise and entrepreneurial spirit both to her internal team as well as to her clients. As a true integrator, she is obsessed with organizational clarity; always looking for innovative ways to break down obstacles to efficiency and striving for clear communication processes. With experience providing services to Indigenous Nations and clients across Manitoba, Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, and NWT Gail keeps a diverse professional portfolio of projects. She has provided her expertise in the areas of strategic planning, comprehensive community planning, traditional land use studies, rights impact assessments, community engagement, consultation office support, and regulatory. Gail has a passion for empowering Indigenous Nations and clients with the information and materials they need to have meaningful and informed dialogue. She has completed her International Association of Public Participation (IAP2) Foundations Certificate which has furthered her skills in facilitation and designing effective community engagement sessions. Gail’s research interests are in the areas of participatory research, co-management, and integrating traditional Indigenous methodologies into western land use planning and management systems. Gail has a love for the outdoors and spends her free time camping and backpacking along the Rocky Mountains and canoeing across Northern Saskatchewan and the Boundary Waters in Ontario.
