About Galen Beers

My passions include family, friends, technology and any team competition (in the office, on the field, wherever). From Baltimore MD originally, I studied economics as an undergrad (BS) & data-driven marketing as grad student (MBA) at Cornell University. Playing lacrosse in college and more specifically the leaders I encountered during that time, inspired me to start my professional life in sports and coaching. I played professional lacrosse for the Boston Cannons and followed that with a year of coaching kids and teaching primary school in Manchester (UK). The high tech industry became fascinating to me during this time so when I moved back to the states I spent the next few years as a software/strategy consultant. This lead me to back to Ithaca for business school, where I discovered and focused on the science of marketing. Soon after I joined a start-up in San Diego that revolutionized the in-person social network with social sports leagues - where I was able to use data and analytics to help understand the customer in new ways, allowing us to focus on and increase life-time value. While working in the social sports industry I founded a non-profit called the Sport & Social Industry Association (SSIA), a trade association that helps adult sports league owners all over the world network, collaborate and grow together. I now call San Diego home and work for Adobe in Digital Experience. I engage with our some of our most strategic customers to drive business value and manage the Adobe partnership. I also stay very close to the social sports industry by advising the SSIA executive board, I also advise a local sports trade association called San Diego Sports Innovators by providing ideas, feedback and leadership to the local sports and active lifestyle industry in Southern California.
