About Galen Graham

My career began working in a long term care facility providing therapeutic services to both patients and long term residents as an assistant director in the Recreational Therapy Department. After six months I was promoted to a different building as the Director of Recreational Therapy and managed my own department while continuing my professional development by sitting on a quality improvement team. While I enjoyed the Geriatric and acute in-patient populations, I was given an opportunity to serve individuals with Developmental and Intellectual disabilities at a non-profit providing employment services. There with the director of programs, I built a job coaching program that started with one client to by the time I left had over 65 clients. I moved on to further diversify my understanding of providing services by working as a therapist at a Forensic Psychiatric Hospital. There I served individuals with mental health needs while collaborating on a treatment team in a clinical hospital setting. This period of time is also when Coivd occured. I then decided I had a foundational knowledge of how service providers served Pennsylvanians from several viewpoints, and moved into an administrative role within the department of health. In this role I am currently in, I facilitate the funding of grants that pertain exclusively to health research for the betterment of people living in Pennsylvania. In my next role, I would like to move into a higher position of project management to continue my professional development.
