About Ganapati Sahoo

With specialized expertise in applied mathematics and theoretical physics, I excel in the study of turbulent flows through the implementation of Direct Numerical Simulations (DNS) involving 3D/2D Navier-Stokes equations, Magnetohydrodynamic equations, Superfluids, and Shell models. My skill set extends to simulating Lagrangian tracer/inertial particles within intricate flow systems like boundary layers, showcasing a comprehensive understanding of fluid dynamics. In addition to theoretical contributions, I have demonstrated proficiency in experimental research, enriching my insights into turbulent flows. Furthermore, I possess robust capabilities in optical design and simulation, particularly in numerical modeling and optimization for near-to-eye displays, layout design for waveguide systems, and diffraction grating simulations. Research and development of innovative optical solutions for waveguides tailored for augmented reality applications are integral aspects of my expertise. I have made substantial contributions to academia by serving as a Lecturer for various courses at both bachelor's and master's levels, covering subjects such as "Fluid Phenomena,""Analysis of Atmosphere-Surface Interactions,""Quantum Statistics,""Statistical Methods for Climate Research," and more at University of Helsinki. Engaging in cutting-edge research, active participation in academic and administrative committees, mentoring and supervising students, and contributing to public outreach initiatives are essential components of my role as both a university and industrial researcher and university docent.
