About Gancho Vachkov

Gancho Vachkov graduated from the Technical University in Sofia, Bulgaria in 1970 as Automation Engineer. He obtained his Ph.D. in 1978 and worked in the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy from 1970 (assistant) till 1996 (Assoc. Professor) in the Department of Automation of Industry. From 1996 he moved to Japan and worked there until 2012 in 4 Universities, as follows: 1996-1998 – Kitami Institute of Technology,(Assoc. Professor), 1998-2002 – Nagoya University, Micro System Engineering (Professor), 2002 – 2012 - Kagawa University, Dept. of Reliability and Information System Engineering (Guest Professor). In the period 2012 – 2015 he was full time as well as visiting Professor in the University of the South Pacific (USP), School of Engineering and Physics in Suva, Fiji Islands. Since 2016 till February 2021 he was a Professor and Visiting professor in the Department of Process Automation Engineering in the Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS), Baku, Azerbaijan. Currently Gancho Vachkov is retired professor living in Sofia, Bulgaria and continues to do research work related to applications of Machine Learning Algorithms to modeling and Identification of real complex processes and systems operating in real time. The research interests of G. Vachkov are in several engineering and application areas, such as soft Computing, Computational Intelligence, Intelligent Control by using Fuzzy Logic and Neural networks, Learning Algorithms for Identification of Systems and Anomaly Detection, Intelligent methods for Fault Diagnosis, Intelligent Data Analysis, Compression and Decision Making, Unsupervised and Supervised methods for Clustering and Classification of Large Data Sets, Evolving Systems, Detection of Deterioration in performance and Fault Diagnosis of Complex Systems, such as Hydraulic Excavators, Solar Systems, Batteries for electric vehicles and Photovoltaic Systems. G. Vachkov is member since 1998 and has participated in almost 120 International Conferences with paper presentations and in several occasion as a Plenary or Keynote Speaker. He has publish nearly 220 papers in peer-reviewed International Journals and high level International Conferences. He has also 7 International Patents and is a regular Reviewer in at least 12 International Journals, as well as a Program Committee Member of numerous International Conferences in his area of research interests.
