About Ganiyu Olowu

Ganiyu Olowu is a public relations and communication specialist with good industry experience. He has a good understanding of Nigeria’s media-business landscape. His career started as a public relations executive in1998 at Ess-Oh Media Consult, Abeokuta, Ogun State. In he joined Daily News, published by Veteran Alhaji Lateef Jakande, where he was assigned to cover metro, crime and the defence beats. He left the newspaper for Treasure Magazine in April 2001 as a pioneer team; he was there until November 2002. He moved to Marketing-Mix Ltd, a PR and publishing firm as a writer/content specialist for Brands & Products (a well respected integrated marketing communications magazine published} in December 2002. In 2004, he joined Purple PR Limited as a Media Consultant where he worked on key accounts like Numetro, Grand Cereal & Oil Mills Limited, GSK, Pfizer, Acer Computers, South African Tourism, MTV Base, Cityscape, Vic Lawrence & Associates (VLA), Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA), UNICEF and more. While at Purple PR, he also worked with The Brand Activation Company, a sister firm as a senior event activation specialist on MTN account. In February 2010, Ganiyu left Purple PR to join Evagrin Konsepts Limited as Project Coordinator where he led the company's team to research and produce a compendium of some of Nigeria’s forgotten indigenous Rhymes in Yoruba, Hausa & Igbo Languages in Print and over 100 short films. Ganiyu presently runs Ganiyu Olowu Media Ideaz- GO MEDIA IDEAZ, a Public Relations Shop. Ganiyu holds a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mass Communication from Ogun State Polytechnic, Abeokuta. He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR). He obtained a Master in Communication Studies from Lagos State University (LASU). In 2015, he was one of the beneficiaries of the Bloomberg Media Initiative Africa (BMIA) Scholarship; an Executive Education in Financial Journalism, at the Lagos Business School and the University of Lagos. Ganiyu has a passion for research, reading, social enterprise, meeting people and travelling.
