About Gannon Loftus

Gannon Loftus is a strategic communications leader and former journalist. Currently, a Director in Corporate Communications for Sun Life, Gannon provides extensive communication support for the company's Canadian businesses and corporate office. Gannon has extensive internal and external experience, creating compelling stories, engaging audiences, and working with senior stakeholders. He delivers complex and fully integrated communications programs and plans, across a multitude of channels. Gannon’s areas of expertise include media relations (issues management and reputational risk), and employee communications. He is passionate about building strong, collaborative and diverse teams. Gannon’s unique background includes working for Ornge, Ontario’s air ambulance. He spent several years gaining media industry experience at CityNews Toronto and Rogers TV. Gannon holds an honours degree from the University of Guelph in Media Studies, as well as a Diploma in Print and Broadcast Journalism from Humber College (ITAL). He is a proud member and advocate for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Gannon shares his knowledge and experience with students at the University of Guelph-Humber. He is a part-time professor in the school of Media & Communication studies. Gannon is also a member of the Program Advisory Committee for Conestoga College’s Public Relations program.
