I currently work for ALS in Ely as a Team Leader in their Chemistry laboratory. My role involves overseeing the team, work planning all of the testing that is required to ensure that we meet the deadlines agreed with the clients. This may involve me communicating directly with clients to inform them of delays or issues that have occurred during the analysis. My duties has involved me providing training to new or existing staff in the analytical techniques or provide support for troubleshooting. The main analytical techniques employed at ALS are HPLC, UV-Vis and GC. During my time at ALS I have been involved in Method Transfers and Validation work for new analytical methods that clients have provided. My duties have also enabled me to be involved in Out of Specification (OOS) and Out of Trend (OOT) investigations, writing and performing investigative work. On top of this, I do the checking of write-ups performed by other analysts/technicians, which aims to ensure that the write-ups comply with GMP standards and follow our Right-FIrst-Time policy. I have also been involved in change controls, which enables for new equipment to be introduced into the laboratory or for any changes to be documented. I previously worked as a Chemist for Baxter Healthcare, my duties involved doing routine tests on the samples that the factory made. These tests varied from simple wet Chemistry tests to more complex testing such as HPLC and GC.
