I have been painting artworks and selling them on the Internet. I have had eight art exhibits at Brandon Public Library in Brandon, MS, August - September 2007, G. Chastain Flynt Memorial Library in Flowood, MS, August – September 2009, Morton Public Library in Morton, MS, December 2009 – March 2010, Brandon Public Library in Brandon, MS, April 2010 – May 2010, Staffers, Inc. in Jackson, MS, July 2012 - September 2012, Municipal Art Gallery in Jackson, MS, July 2013 - September 2013, Staffers, Inc. in Jackson, MS. July 16 -30, 2015, June 2016 - July 2016 Brandon Public Library in Brandon, MS. Three articles were written in three newspapers about my paintings. One newspaper article was in the Scott County Times in Forest, Mississippi in January 2010, another newspaper article in the Clarion Ledger in Jackson, MS in February 2010 and The Northside Sun in Jackson, MS in August 2012. You can see my paintings and poems on Facebook. The inspiration for my art emerges from the subconscious and spirit. They seem to flow up from unknown spaces. When painting, I find that I dwell most truthfully in the strokes of paint that fade and blur on the canvas. The feathered light strokes that depart from the delineated forms into that “no man’s land,” leaving one color and moving to another. This ambiguous and existential space in my paintings represents my inner spirit. I always acknowledge the clear strong lines but truly reside with those blurring strokes between them. My own identity pays homage to the distinct but feels most at home with that space of “transition,” the world of the lifting drifting stroke. Most of my work comes from abstraction but I explore realism as well in a minimalist approach.
