About Garnet Owen

GDI Integrated Facility Services collaborates with the University of Guelph Physical Resources (Environmental Sustainability) team to implement advanced waste management strategies on campus. As Project Manager (Waste Services), my responsibilities include supervising and streamlining waste collection operations, collecting and analyzing data for regulatory compliance, and executing programs aimed at improving waste diversion and contamination rates. My academic accomplishments include successfully defending my Master’s thesis (2023) on hydrological conditioning techniques for LiDAR DEMs at the Geomorphometry and Hydrogeomatics Research Group (University of Guelph). Before this, I completed my Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, majoring in Environmental Resource Management (2020, University of Guelph) where I studied environmental governance, climate change science, Environmental Impact Assessment in Canada, hydrology, and geomatics. My skills include project management, research, data/trend analysis, data visualization, and scientific communication/public engagement. A comprehensive understanding of environmental resource management and sustainability principles underpins my commitment to innovative, accessible environmental solutions and effective community engagement. I am proud to be a part of the Neurodivergent, Queer, and Disabled communities.
