About Garrett Johnson
I'm interested in designing and building beautiful, sustainable buildings that exist symbiotically within larger systems, and developing materials that positively affect the natural and human environment. With the support of Evolve Builders Group and the Ontario sustainable building community I launched a company called Hundred Year Materials, dedicated to developing and manufacturing bio-based building materials from circular and rapidly renewable resources. Our first product pushing for commercialization is a rigid board insulation made from agricultural biomass. In addition, I work part time for Evolve Builders Group as a designer, where my focus has been on construction detailing, building code compliance, and development of design tools to streamline design and understanding for topics like effective R-values of assemblies and whole walls.
